Will Barberton use COVID-19 as an excuse for their financial problems.

Covid-19 Quarantine is the New Excuse!

Many businesses, organizations, and individuals were in financial trouble before the Covid-19 quarantine. What will begin to occur is the Covid-19 excuse will be used to justify their situation. Now there are legitimate Covid-19 destruction events that will upset great companies and people, but let’s beware of the fake excuses that are waiting to occur.

Locally, Mayor Judge will tell us that the city is in financial trouble due to Covid-19. No mention will be made about losing B@W and other companies over his 9 year administration. The parks are in a mess due to the quarantine, but the city had run off senior softball and had to use ordinary citizens to clean Lake Anna up last year. By the way, good-bye road repair this year. A good excuse Covid-19. Also, a  great way politically to delay having to fix a road.

Sure, Covid -19 will be the last shot to put the city on life support but do not forget about the previous bullets fired into the victim. The victim was going to die anyway!

Retail stores like J.C. Penney’s has filed bankruptcy recently. Penney’s just received the Dr. Kirkovorkian shot in a Covid-19 shutdown, but death was imminent while on life support.

Many citizens are in financial trouble because of Covid-19, but many people never prepared for a rainy day. Granted, many do not make enough to have much of a reserve, but look at how you will view future spending after the unemployment rate skyrocketed from 3.5% to 20% in 6 weeks. Black Swan events do happen in life, and most of us are guilty of ignoring and preparing for such an event. Covid-19 may wake us up!

By the way, will the Summa / Belmont merger finally happen? This is a true Covid blowup. Belmont has great exposure to the Detroit hospital area and has suffered greatly. Summa lost nonextensive procedures and is facing economic losses. Most likely, they are waiting to see what the federal government will do for hospitals in this stressful time. This will affect Summa/ Barberton if there is not a merger. Good or bad, we will have to wait and see!

In conclusion, the dog ate my homework is the old excuse that will be replaced with the Covid-19 quarantine excuse! If it helps you use it! But beware of fake excuses!
