The update on the Mertons and the Quints.
Jake Merton has been working 50 hours a week at Aldi’s while his wife, Hannah has been hospitalized with the Quints. She is at Akron Summa Hospital and is in her 24th week on Tuesday, Feb 25, 2020. The chance for survival of the babies greatly increases in the 24th week. The goal is to get her to the 30th week. The record for quints is 34 weeks.
The personnel from Children’s will be brought to City Hospital for the delivery with a special transfer unit ready. Children’s Neonatal Unit is preparing for the Quints including a nurse’s signup sheet for extra 4 hour shifts. The Hospital wants 2 nurses and a nurse practitioner per child. The goal is for all 5 babies and the Mom to be at the same Hospital.
Jake said he has been living at the hospital. Hannah comes from a family of eight children so there are plenty of visitors. A family shower was held on February 16, 2020. A community shower will be on March 8th at Prince of Peace from 3-6 pm. Also, diapers can be dropped off at the YMCA.
Good News!! Jake Merton has a new job starting on March 16. He is a financial planning major and will graduate in March from Akron U. He will be a portfolio manager at Sikich LP.
